Hello DV! The Thunder Buddies Club is holding 'Spread the Word to End the R Word' Day on March 1st. During both lunches you will have the opportunity to hear personal stories from some of our buddies and make a pledge to stop using the R word. ASU Tempe would like to personally invite you to our upcoming College Readiness event!
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 4th from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the ASU Tempe location. It will consist of various academic and educational resources, presentations from our ASU Admissions and Financial Aid departments, and many opportunities to be informed.
In addition, we will have a number of college readiness workshops to include: Preparing for College, Paying for College, Step to the Top, a me3 demo room, and Campus Tours. All workshops will be in English and Spanish.
We would love for you and your students to come explore all that ASU Tempe has to offer. It is never too early to start preparing for College! Be sure to RSVP at fsdfdaytempe.eventbrite.com so that we can make the appropriate accommodations.
Varsity finished this past week at the State Tournament with a 4th place team score of 102.5 points, one individual State Champion, and 5 state placers:

Our Freshman and JV wrestlers finished their season a couple of weeks ago at their individual final tournaments (unofficial state meets), with the freshman having 3 placers and 1 champion at the Freshman State Tournament:

Please refer to the registration calendar. Freshmen will register in their Chem/Phys class, sophomores in their World Hist/Geo class and juniors will register in their American/AZ History class. Students in these classes will come to the Counseling Office on their assigned date, and meet with their counselor.
The City of Phoenix Youth and Education Office is now accepting applications for the 2017 Outstanding Young Man and Young Woman of the Year awards. The Outstanding Young Man and Young Woman (OYMYW) of the Year program recognizes and honors the outstanding achievements of young people, enhances the perception of youth and raises community awareness of the positive contributions of youth.
This program is open to any students currently enrolled in high school and living within Phoenix city limits. Here's how the program works:
One young man and one young woman will be selected as winners from each city council district and receive an award of $2,000.
In addition, each district-level winner will be eligible for an additional $500 award if they are selected as the citywide winners.
Students interested in applying will need to write an essay, submit a letter of recommendation and proof of legal residence in the United States. Finalists will be interviewed by judges of the program including members of the Phoenix Rotary 100 and Soroptimist International of Phoenix. District award winners will be invited to a luncheon sponsored by Rotary 100 and Soroptimist International where the citywide award winners will be announced.

2017-2018 Textbook Adoption Process
Social Studies textbooks recommended to the Governing Board on February 15, 2017 will be available in the District Office lobby for public review from Feb. 15, 2017 to March 1, 2017. The Board will vote on the recommendations at its March 1, 2017 meeting. Click here for more information.
